BIG thanks to Els for the help on this one.

Apparently, the site opened in 1928 to care for children and adults with learning difficulties and epilepsy. From what I can gather, when the NHS was formed the hospital was part of some form of amalgamation and staff and patients were moved elsewhere leaving the site as it is.

Many of the buildings are in a really bad way but still a very enjoyable explore. The atmosphere there is more sad than sinister and the place does reveal a few hidden gems if you rummage for them.

Mixture of torchlight pics, standard shots and HDR images here.

Explored with Flame as always.

Never managed to see the padded cell here. I agree about the atmosphere - I seem to remember it feeling very melancholy. I had no idea this was all still here so nice work, thanks for reminding me! Decent shots too :)
