After 159 tears of steel making the death knell sounds for Shelton Bar

Families have been left devastated by the closure of Shelton Bar steelworks. Stoke-on-Trent has lost a local institution, an industry and a part of its history.
Almost 300 workers have lost jobs and a way of life.
They face the struggle of starting again after years of fighting against the inevitable.

the site still has a few sheds that can clearly be seen from the A500...the site is under reclamation at the moment.......

i just thought id show you as we are on the subject.
 
Thanks for the report and pics, SR. Well like the black and white one of the chimney. :cool:
Nice to see the foundry pic. I once went on a field-trip with art college to a steel works in Brierly Hill (don't ask - I don't remember why! :D ), and the long lines of molten steel really stuck out in my mind. That brought back a nice memory.
