History

The Selborne Tower Brick and Tile Company manufactures a range of traditional hand finished bricks and tiles since 1872. Production ceased on 6 November 2009 following the Lehman crash and a spike in gas prices.
The company secured a planning consent to construct an anaerobic digester, which would provide all the gas necessary to operate the plant from renewable resources, making the Selborne brick one of the most sustainable building materials in the country, unfortunatly this failed to materlise in 2015.

I visited this lovely site one afternoon, i thought it would be a nice and relaxed explore, however it was not to be the case and i was asked to leave, was only about half way round by this point. I took enough photos to put a report together and will have to pop back and finish it of at some point in the future.

on with the photos

OOPS, I should have known, there wasn't a jug in sight, I liked the twin Belfasts, the grand girl is training you well,

Lol Smiler:D, just added another photo to the post of the 2 Belfasts and yes still in training lol:D

You've done a damn fine job of that mate, really nicely done. Was it the neighbours who asked you to leave? I have swung by on the odd occasion in the work van, I was supposed to go with Gromr123 but that didn't happen but was happy to provide reccy knowledge. I did notice extra fencing go up after then. Your pics are wicked though man, as far as selfies go that is pretty well done, great silouhette!

Nice photos. You managed to capture a fair amount which covers the history. Looks like the machinery is ready to go and ready to churn out more bricks. I like your selfie shot, a bit different from others.

The neighbouring farm employs some of the former workers of the factory on their land. Right at the end of the visit myself and Landie paid a couple of years ago we saw a 4x4 driving towards us down the track on the eastern side of the site and the guy introduced himself as one of the old foremen of the factory when it was active - he was a really nice guy and we actually stood and talked to him for about twenty minutes! His only concern was stopping the vandalism of the owners cars that had taken place on site after they were parked in the main production shed.

Cheers for that Mookstar, i always seen to attract the grumpy ones who just don't want to talk:)

Nicely done, pictures are lovely! Its a lovely site for sure, when I went I heard a car and saw a 4x4 leaving from somewhere on the site. Fortunately we were not seen, but I can understand them wanting to look after this place. Its still in pretty good condition and hasn't suffered much vandalism at all.

Cheers Gromr, yes it is very nice inside with so many photo opportunities.

Still can't win them all.

Looks like definitely some photo worthy machinery in there, great shots of them too:)yes I think you should go back I know I would lol
