Depot was opened in the 1980s by BP for transport of gas from Wytch Farm oil field.

Production of gas got very low a few years ago and meant that this place was closed down.

First 5 pics are of how it looked in 2004 just before closure

Interesting place. Nice to see the before and after pics.
In the last couple of line pics...is that track completely abandoned now? That would make an interesting walk, methinks! :mrgreen:

Came across this place by accident once. It looks so incongruous in the middle of the Isle of Purbeck.
 
Just had a look at Google earth but stills shows wagons in the yard and a steam train quite a way down the line. Nice find. Might have a drive down nearer summer time
 
Got to agree with foxy the before and after photo's are a nice touch. Looks an interesting find.

Ditto.............I'm half expecting to see Ozzy Osbourne standing on the tracks singing "Crazy Train" :lol: :lol:
