Bit of a mixed bag this one and I wasn't sure where to post for the best. Have been here a few times but first time I have found the farmhouse out the far side.

The history has been covered plenty before, but in brief.
This was a RAF bomber command in 41, then assigned to the USAF in 42 with numerous light & heavy bombardment squadron's being sited.
There was various "accidents" reported here & this story really intrigued me.

This visit was on the barracks (more public) side not the main airfield as I had the young lad and dog of doom with me as usual!

A bit pic heavy & taken with my usual trashy point & shoot, but hope you enjoy.

First we visit this curious building, appeared definitely military to me, any ideas?

First building is a barrack block - the tower held a water tank raised to give some water pressure. Very common on airfield domestic sites.

That would make sense, I thought it was a chimney until I looked up it to see a concrete slab & pipes coming through!

First building is the Ablutions & Drying Room block on the 546th Bomb Squadron barracks site.
