This is a former electrical substation located on the former Pau to Canfranc railway. I spotted it on the drive up to Canfranc from Pau and decided to give it a look on the return leg. I’ve got no history on the place and it’s a grand but simple building with little internally to spend too much time on. However if I can get ten decent pictures of a place without too much repetition then I tend to do a report so here it is. Plus it is unlikely to be covered again. I’m guessing it might have fallen surplus to requirements when the railway line closed but that could just be conjecture on my part!

Again very nice. Sad it has gone down hill; as built in the classic railway company architecture of that period, it did offer possibilities for conversion into a multiple occupancy dwelling when I saw it undamaged in the early 60's. However to be fair, peoples' attitudes to converting older ex commercial buildings were different back then, especially in Spain and France.

You've done a smashing job and captured just right,it still looks a splendid building and probably could be saved who knows?

Cheers mate. Problem is there are so many empty places round here but it would make a very quirky house. Wouldn't fancy the heating bills in winter though!
