Not a big fan of ROC posts but this is local and usually sealed.

There are 1,563 underground monitoring posts throughout the UK this 1`in badsworth in usually sealed but i happened to be passing and saw the hatch was open so torch and camera at the ready and entered it was in a decent condition inside with hardly any damage after about 20 minutes voices was heard from above and it turned out to be the farmer so it was time to leave but the farmer was very friendly and informed me that this post was opened in 1962 and closed in 1991.
The vast majority of such posts have been left to the elements, with typically weather-beaten examples being found throughout the UK.

Surface structures of the ROC Underground Monitoring Post comprise a hatch covered entrance shaft, ventilation shaft and instrument fixing plates.

Closer view of the hatch.

Not sure what this was used for but now looks to be the home of a few creepy crawlies which im sure that PROJ3CTM4YH3M would love to see these lmao

The ladder down and believe me it was tight.

Was amazingly clean to say it has been empty 22 years.

Even the toilet and camp bed have just been left.

Another hole inside yet again home to creapy crawlies.

Surprised this was still intact.

Fire blanket box but the blanket was missing.

The View up the ladder.

And believe me you need to aswell.

I think the maid give up coming.

What a lovely matress wonder if it was memory foam lol.

I wonder if its still connected?

And finally some kind of valve i think it was something to do with the water.

Thanks for looking and i hope you enjoyed.

The valve is actually a pump for emptying water out of the sump (directly below it under the grating), it pumps it up to the surface. The instrument mounting plate on the side of the hatch is for the GZI or Ground Zero Indicator, basically a circular camera that registers in which direction the flash of a nuclear explosion comes from. Picture 3 is simply an adjustable ventilator which could be slid shut to prevent fall out entering the post.
The thing sticking up between the hatch and the ventilation shaft is the FSM (fixed survey meter) tube, this would be used to record radiation levels.
Hope that helps a bit!
