Here we have a terrace of 7 very grand old houses which were converted into a residential home for older people. However, the home was finally closed in 2007, after it was found to be failing its residents. The above article tells the tale of an employee who was convicted of stealing £20 000 from residents bank accounts, and who also had prior convicts for kidnapping and assault. It seems the CRB checks werent being carried out! The standard of care was very poor. When looking round the buildings I read through the inspection documents for the lift, which showed long lists of needed repairs needed which were reported year after year but never sorted out. Health and safety issues were obviously not of great importance either.
was very excited about doing this explore, i thought its location in full view of Lister Park and nearby houses might have deterred others(ie scrap metallers) from coming in and spoiling the building. However I was diappointed to find it stripped bare of anything but a few unremarkable pieces of furniture. There was also a gathering of local youths going on upstairs!
Disappointed to say the least, but here goes..
