The Hermitage in the woods - August 2016

From the recent days out.

I spotted this place in the trees, on route to another potential. Only to find it sealed in every direction. There isn't much to it. Fortinetly, because of it's location and the way everything's been left behind. I decided to post it on here. Little is known or could be found out about this place. One of the sheds had housed birds.

Now that's interesting. Lots of prickly bits I see. Your last picture looks like a dovecote, maybe that person kept and raced pigeons.

A bit like Epping Forest from the mid '30's to after WW2 - Originally people moving from the horrific slums and then obviously continuing due to war damage. There are a couple of good books about the forest during this period for those needing more info. This could be a legal small holding that has become completely over grown, rather than just a pigeon loft or breeding hut for game birds in the wilds. Certainly the building shows obvious signs of being a proper dwelling. Nicely record Dauntless.
