This workhouse was built sometime in the 1780s at a cost of £229 15s 1d. It was used as a workhouse until 1834 when it was converted into housing. 23 inmates and paupers used to work on 18 spinning wheels, two reels and a loom here, although the inventory from 1808 doesn’t actually show enough beds for 23 people. Due to the lack of beds, it is likely that the inmates would be made to either share a bed and sleep head to toe or would use the bed in shifts.

The house has been owned by a music teacher at some point and is now being renovated by the new owners.

Thanks for looking,

That's lovely Rubex. Some really nice shots there. Really like that silhouette one. Thanks for sharing!

creepy doll....and mannequin in the window? nice pics.

Cheers for the comments everyone! There was so much to see here, I could have spent the whole day just looking around at all the different things :) The cardboard cut outs were by the window to make it look like someone was home

When Mikeymutt covered this one a while ago I commented that I would like to see this house when its finished well, its getting there. You've take some nice moody and atmospheric shots there.
