This is my first post so im very much a novice, so please if you have any pointers or advice for me
then feel free to let me know! The history on this explore is very limited, as i can't seem to find out much about it. This is a small explore i did at Fenn's Old Works. It is now listed as an ancient monument, as it is believed to be the last surving one in Britain The works are of steel girder construction of the late 1930s, formerly clad in corrugated iron, with a stationary engine (containing the only National Heavy Oil Engine still in situ), which provided power for machinery for milling and baling the peat. There was also a narrow gauge track than run around the fenn's moss to transport the peat to the Works, which was situated next to the former Whitchurch to Oswestry railwayline. This allowed for the peat to be transported to other locations. Although this place is small, it has quite a few interesting pieces of machinery, but as the light was starting to go, i only managed to get a few photos! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Below is the old narrow gauge track bed ![]() |
