So we had looked at Hunslet Mill Leeds then onto Southpoint Roof, Leeds by day. It was onto Mollett Catering Supplies aka Thompson Mill, Bradford on our Day Road trip, following here our host took us to what would have separate and substantial homes over the road from Lister Park Bradford in the Manningham area of the city .Home to Cartwright Hall is the civic art gallery in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, situated about a mile from the city centre in the Manningham district.

The gallery was opened in 1904 with a collection of Victorian and Edwardian works donated by Samuel Lister. It is named after Edmund Cartwright. Cartwright Hall stands in Lister Park and enjoys scenic views of the city. Cartwright Hall has been held to represent "Bradford Baroque", a style of architecture typical of Bradford. However, it was designed by the same architects as Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, also in the Baroque style: perhaps the architecture of both buildings is best seen in a national context.

The purpose-built gallery is home to a notable collection of permanent works, from Old Masters to 20th Century British painters and sculptors.Cartwright Hall also houses contemporary exhibitions by local, national and international artists, historical exhibitions, craft and media arts, and a biennial open exhibition. Recent[when?] acquisitions include contemporary South Asian Art - Islamic calligraphy, illustrated textiles in the phulkari style and items of contemporary Sikh art, including a portrait of Guru Nanak).
In 1983 Cartwright Hall was briefly used as part of the musical number 'every sperm is sacred' in the Monty Python movie, The Meaning of Life.

Manningham holds a wealth of industrial history including mill buildings and back-to-back terraced houses. Whilst Manningham holds a strong cultural and historical value, it was also the location for the Manningham Riot in June 1995 and the Bradford Riots in July 2001.
The most dominant landmark in Manningham is arguably the most dominant landmark in the entire city, Lister Mills. The Mills stand in the most elevated part of Manningham, at the top of Oak Lane (although, more accurately, the Mills are on the corner of Lilycroft and Heaton Roads). The Mills have recently been converted into modern apartments.

Another key landmark is Lister Park (also known as Manningham Park). This triangular park, situated between Keighley Road, North Park Road and Emm Lane in the north of Manningham, is one of the city's largest parks. It houses Cartwright Hall (a museum and art gallery), a large boating lake and the Mughal Water Gardens as well as extensive botanical gardens.

Manningham is also the home of the Valley Parade football stadium, which has been the home of Bradford City football club since they were founded in 1903 and where the Bradford Bulls played in recent years whilst their Odsal home was redeveloped. As was once common with English football stadiums, Valley Parade, is actually the name of a road that slopes down Bradford's valley off the

So that is the back ground to the area. seems they would have had there own servants, it its last years it was a residential home each house being knocked into each other. There was signs of people living there (was it right for us to be here) the floors was riped up in the search for coper and the place trashed, a further mooch round the area is a must in the near future onto some images then..
