The DOB has this listed as Huntsmill Pumping station but as it’s on the south bank of the river Huntspill, it may be a typo. It was built circa 1939 to service ROF Bridgwater and has a defence post within the compound. The river itself was created with the purpose of providing a dedicated water supply for the Ordnance factory.

Not a big explore but interesting because of its connection to the ROF. It’s heavily overgrown and is currently awaiting decommissioning.

Main entrance door is welded

So an alternative was required. I went climbing and realised that my scruffs were like trying to climb with bricks tied to my feet.

However, I was rewarded with a view of the inside although nothing much to see except the inevitable pigeon shit.

So I moved on to the Defence post in the corner of the compound stopping for a quick bit of valve porn along the way.

There is a second smaller building on the site but it would have required the services of a chainsaw to get in.

Well there you go, a small but reasonably satisfying mooch. Thanks for looking in.

Nice work mate that defence post looks roughly the same as the ones round the ammo stores for what was ROF Aycliffe. Hope you've got your walking boots with you this weekend think you might need them lol

There are a few more defence posts in the area Jon and you won't believe what they've done to them. I'll show you the pics when I get up to Durham tomorrow. Not posting them here as they're in a rather 'sensitive' location.;)

Oh and those are my walking boots mate, If I'd known I was going climbing I would have changed them.
See you tomorrow.

Nice work there, looked like you could rip your jeans getting in.

I nearly ripped something a little more painful NC but it was worth it.

Thanks guys. :)

A original door and coat hook in one picture, that's got to be a rare find?.
Nice one Munchh.

Makes you wonder why they bothered to weld up the door if there was nothing inside.

Yeah, I thought so too Winch particularly the door. Having been on MOD land until about 5 years ago may partly explain why.

The usual H & S liability bullshit probably OMJ, might stop the casual observer. For people like us, the answer is in your sig mate. :)

The Legacy signs attached to the buildings actually prohibit access to Bridgwater employees. This might also be a reason for the welded door, I'm not sure.
