North Selby Mine

Stumbled on this place one day, curiosity after seeing a signpost, did go back for a 2nd visit to photograph the Rail Division but when arrived found the site had been taken over and security measures looked to be in place.
Attempted then to go down the road to the other mine, discovered police dogs in training and was questioned by them so that was a no go.

But is the copyright tag really necessary? Really spoils the photos TBH...

Won't do the tags in future had some of my photos passed off as by someone else before, kind of spoilt my interest for a while.

Nice one, interesting to see what little remains of the Selby complex.

I don't mind the copyright tag, it's quite small … and having had my photos pinched more than once, I totally understand why you've superimposed it.

Hard to tell from the photos? Is the baths / canteen / office building still there or has it been demolished.

The shower block is gone, the canteen wasnt there either, there was hardly anything there, do your photos also contain images of the Stillingfleet site as well? Great pictures on yours.

I've got photos from all the Selby mines including Gascoine Wood and have pretty comprehensive set from Stillingfleet. All the photos in that thread are from North Selby. I've got some gassey wood photos on my website, but I don't think any of my Stillingfleet photos are online.

The Surface buildings at the Selby mines are all very similar. Stillingfleet, North Selby and Whitemoor are nearly identical in terms of layout the main architectural differences were in the colour of the brickwork / cladding. Wistow was also built in the same style but the position of the buildings varied more and the bathouse block is different probably due to the close proximity to the road. Riccall had the sports club and football pitch on site but was otherwise very close to the design of the others.

I did try to get onto stillingfleet but got escorted off by the dog handlers that were training on there. I have only recently found out about Gasgoine, my mind went off course after discovering high royds was fairly close. I am at riccall at the weekend and plan a walk on what is left of the airfield.
