Nothing to get too excited about but this is a rather cute little Allan Williams turret dating back from WWII. It's in a field just North-East [edit: make that south-west] of Grantham.

More info about Allan Williams turrets here:

Not to be confused with Allan Williams the original booking agent and first manager of The Beatles!

I thought Alan Williams commissioned them to protect the Beatles from hoards of screaming fans?

We have one up here on the east coast in Norfolk.I keep meaning to go look at it.there ain't to many of these about now.nice little report that one

Nice photos!

Whenever we're out and we see them I convince my group they're actually called "Andy Williams Turrets" before jumping in and singing 'Moon River'...

Thanks for sharing, an ace find :)

Looks like the one South-West of Grantham. There used to be one just north of Spittlegate (never been sure about the spelling as it seems to vary across documents) but I didn't see it a few years ago when I was going along the lane where the Pastscape data says it should be.

Ooops...blonde moment - it is South-West where you state. Compass bearing malfunction...
