I have joined because I am interested in industrial heritage and machinery. I'm a bit too old and infirmed now to be getting to interesting places, but did some mine and industrial ruins exploration in the distant past. If I run across any of my old photos, I will post them.
I love looking at those places where people just seem to have shut the doors on a business and walked away. Makes me a bit sad though too, for the loss of livelihood which was probably never regained (I have been retrenched twice myself), for the beautiful old buildings which always seem to get destroyed by vandals or knocked down to erect some shoddily built eyesore, and for the old machinery, vandalised until reduced to scrap. Trust me, as an old wood and metalworking machine addict in machine poor Australia, I would contact owners and try to save some of old dears I see in your photos, or die trying. But then, I guess that could be regarded as vandalism in itself.
Anyway, I enjoy your images and reports, especially those that present a bit of the location's or firm's history, and look forward to seeing many more.
