Mercy Town by Tobi_urbex #01 For five days, we have been traveling in Poland to explore all kinds of abandoned places. But it was not industry or forgotten vehicles that captivated us the most. No, it was the beauty of the country’s numerous derelict palaces. It is also known as "The country of castles". Mercy Town by Tobi_urbex #06 It was already late in the evening when we reached this remote area. The sun was about to set while we were still on the hunt for forgotten beauties in...

Nice set of images, if you get the chance to go back and go into the OPS Block take a good torch there is plenty to see in there, ie PBX and OPS Blackboard amongst others

Also might be worth trying a programme called Graphic Converter - it can open and save to dozens of file formats so it might recognise the files.

I did notice that when during my days as a Goods Guard I accidentally shunted a wagon too hard over the buffer stops. Shame about the buffer bells on the wagon but the buffer stops remained.

It sounds like the file data headers have been corrupt. Your images are still there but there is a code inserted in the header to tell the image program what type of image it is. I had that problem on a CD and I think I used the REPAIR CD section in Nero to repair my CD. I managed to retrieve about 99% of the CD. But there is a program (used by hackers to erase passwords) which can write to the data file header.

There's a lot of wagons and coaches there worth renovating. A pity you didn't look at the solebars which would tell you who built it and the build date.

I had visited this place quite a while back but always fancied going back. It is such a beautiful place and all the old machinery and stuff overgrown. So on the way back from Scotland on what was as stupidly hot summers day I stopped by. and was pleased to see nothing had changed at all. The company was founded in 1842 by James holding. it moved premises in 1860, then eventually set up the current site in the 1890s. The company used the local clay to make there wares, the work continued in...

I made a visit to this place over the Christmas period on the way to Scotland. I came across it on some very early pics. I did wonder if they were all still there, but speaking to a local friend he confirmed they were still all there. I was quite excited to see these. There is lots of old engines laying around. and old carriages. they all awaiting some sort of restoration, but as they have sat there in the same place for years I do not think that will be happening to soon. One of the highlights...

Chatterley Whitfield Colliery On the outskirts of Chell in Staffordshire, stands an industrial monument of the utmost importance - the Chatterley Whitfield Colliery. The disused coal mine is considered to be the most comprehensive survival of a deep mine site in England from the industry's period of peak production and it was the first colliery in the UK to produce 1,000,000 tons of saleable coal in a year. Following the closure of the mine in 1977, the buildings had served as a...

Yes I tried everything bar paying someone to do it. The trouble is all the software I could find was "image recovery" which was not the issue as I still have the images, they just wont open on any device in any program, comes up with file not recognised. I could view them on camera immediately after taking but if I turned camera off & back on it wouldnt view any other than these first ones posted here ;-( Annoying I lost the whole day & this place & the collage in derby are 2 I wont be...

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
