Hi!
Can someone please help me with the basic measurements of the entrance hatch structure of the Post?
I am in a few thousands miles from any of locations so I cant do it by myself.
Or may be you know where to look for?
Goin to make a model.
Thanks.

Someone here may well be able to as I know a couple of members actually own or manage restored roc posts, the answer may not be quick though!

If you do make a model please come back and show us, I'd love to see it.

Google ROC Posts, tis all there, I too would like to see the result of your project, Good Luck.

Gents thank you for your attention.I sure do my own research and I surely did googled it (with better spelling) and only after dicided to get in here.
Still waiting for a chance I prepere miself to do the project by eye basing on sketches with no data what is not welcomed in the modelers` world).
And some more questions.
Watching the youtube movies I have found that the observers went out with no gas masks or any other type of protection only almost in a minute after the blast. Did this occur only while filming and\or exercises or the posts were not equipped with g.masks ets?
What was the basic color of the structure? Were they white or green at the same time or may be in the 60s white with the later (70s or so) switching to green ? In one colored 50s(?)movie I saw it grey at all)

This book will tell you pretty much everything there is to know about ROC posts and how they worked.

Also you could grab a tape measure and go take measurements yourself. You can't be more than a few miles from one!

As far as protection etc goes, you have to realise that when the plan was conceived we knew very little about how radiation spread or what would really happen if the bombs went off, civil defences were woefully inadequate. Also gas masks are irrelevant, they do not protect against radiation or biological weapons, very little does.

I wish I could...

Well, it might had been so the first years or even a decade .Some knowledge about r.active dust ...I am not going to argue , but as I plan to add a figure it must be properly "dressed up"--that`s the only point .

Apologies, I bow down to your clearly superior YouTube knowledge. I highly recommend you read the relevant books, I have and they give the majority of the answers you're looking for, direct from the official records rather than google etc.

Best wishes in your endeavour.

Yes I did. Alot of books. My country`s CD had suuplied them in great quantity. So it was in my school years (70-80s), same later in student an army years. This knowledge is the reason of my wonder: we knew it then but you didn`t. As for the youtube-- " I just (have to) look having read the book")) but not the UK ones. Well the time has come. But the procedure is tipical : first google then the rest..
Talking about the "r.active dust knowledge" I meant the UK CD --first didn`t know the started to.
Sorry the English is not my native I undestand that misunderstandings do happen.

I look forward to seeing the result of your work, maybe you could post up pics of your progress, I'd like that, Thanks
