Taken on a couple of visits last year - Northumberland County Pauper Lunatic Asylum was opened with six males and six females from Bensham Asylum in Gateshead. Always an interesting one to visit .....having been lucky to have seen what afaik is possible, have personally laid the place to rest!

Unusual main hall

Even more unusual fireplaces

One of the best bits of this place, the funkily lit corridors and trippy flooring

Your guess as to what that thing is, is as good as mine. But I liked the way the blue matched the sign!

The water tower

The view from the top of the water tower. A scary climb.

I think what used to be cells, more recently used as offices.

The angel before it got trashed. The poor thing is now smashed to bits. This was done for an episode of Wire in the Blood which was filmed here. Also from filiming is a fake cell door and the checkerboard ceiling:

Gorgeous wallpaper in the angel room

And thats it. There is alot more of this building still to be seen. The morgue would be fantastic but unfortunately is pretty well secured.

Nice work missfish.
I've been a couple of times and never had any run-ins, even when strolling past their little house with obvious exploring gear.
I'd love to get up the water tower, looks like a great view. I hope the rest of the site becomes explorable in the future, maybe when they start converting it.

Bit confused, its a painting on the wall? Or do you mean its a painting of a statue?
