Ha at last my first Hospital pics. This Hospital is currently undergoing Demo to make way for Council Offices. It opened behind the much larger Northgate Hospital in 1906 as an Isolation Hospital for infectious diseases and later served as a V.D Clinic. There is not much left and a lot has been stripped so it was a case of taking shots before everything was gone...Looking on to part of the site...

Thanks HypoBoy. Do either of you know where the asylum was? I would be interested to know where it was. Also, is Richards Ship Builders building still about?

There was a naval asylum, if that's the one you're referring to? I think that one was on what's now the James Paget Hospital site.

Is Richards in Yarmouth the same company as the one that used to be at Lowestoft Shuck?

There was no Hospital on the site of the Paget, and before the Paget as there was a Gt Yarmouth General Hospital near St Georges Park which closed in th late 70s. Hope that helps Hypo.:)

Interesting stuff :), long distance research is never easy.

Thanks for posting BS -nice to see something new -looks like the wait was worth it.
I like photos 1 & 6 :)

I have been watching this site for some time L.B. Its just round the corner from where I work. Demo is in progress and I missed the main Ward site and the morgue as well, but there was a lot of vehicles and such like on the site then, but not now.Glad I had the chance though before its all gone.
