Decided to make a return trip to the place which we paid a quick visit to last year, Again this was a quick visit as i was on my way to somewhere else.

Opened in 1889 on the east side of Glagow this was a impressive and impossing building. This catered for 540 patients rising to a high of 830 in 1904. Like most hospital ofthe period it has had a long and Varied past and not Just used a a psychatric hospital. I really wish I had seen this just after it had shut as even now you can see what a gloroius building it once would have been. A large portion of the hospital has been converted, for some reason though the convertion has been stalled for a number of years we thinkthis is another case of the builder hoping for the neds to do him a favour.

The main hall is stunning and for it to left to get in the state it is in now is nothing short of criminal:mad:

Some great shots there, looks realing interesting. luvvin the low light stuff.

The detail around the stage is great, and the colour scheme is miles ahead of the usual NHS fare … :)

Amazing building! It's so sad that the conversion stopped. Nice pics especially the low light ones.

I missed this when you posted it, Pincheck, but it is stunning. Great photos of an epic site. I find it beyond belief that architectural detail seen here can be left to deteriorate into rubble. Why the local councils are not doing more to preserve these places escapes me. I suppose it is down to finances, although if my local council tax dept is anything to go by, it is little wonder there is no money to save these places:mad: They are too busy paying numpties to do bugger all.:mad:

Gartloch is partway through being converted into housing

nothing has happened on this site ina a long time mate there are no sign of any activiity here its lucky its right next to the live section perhaps the builder has gone bust but i think this another one of those incoveniaent places that they had no clue what to do with and now hope for someone to cure that problem for them.................we all know what that means.

anyone now who the builder is or where they are ?

It seems to be this crew

Excellent photos. I'd really like to see inside the buildings, before they end up as you predict...

Thats easy enough ask Ali Mate.Yeh i checked and got that website as well. There is a sales office there but you would be hard pressed to note when the last time there was building activity on the site which is shocking.

I thought i'd replied to this thread, but it seems not! Brilliant shots from all of you lads. Im especially liking the hall ones - certainly the main attraction here. As i've mentiioned before, this hall really has to be seen in real life to be appreciated, as I never expected it to be as impressive as it was from just the photos alone.

I wouldn't think you would need to rush to get a chance to see it, but as with any site, sooner rather than later is always best.

Good work! :)
