Opened in October 1869, this small hospital originally had a mere seven beds. The land was donated by the Lord Chesham, who continued to donate £200 every year until his death. By 1924, the bed count reached 24, and the hospital had an extension built at an unknown year, possibly during the 1940's. Sadly, threats of closure arose in the early 2000's, and despite intense local opposition it closed in late 2004.

As the name suggests, it is a very small hospital, and sadly very bare and decayed for such a recent closure, but I thought someone might be interested.

The only item of interest remaining in the hospital. Something to do with X-Rays, but I don't know what.

Community Hospital

Looks Like One of those Community Hospitals that Was Well Run ,Had a Matron in charge,A Warm and friendly Place ,Unlike the Massive General Hospitals that Efficiency Demands,Using the word Efficiency in the same Sentence as NHS Hospital is Cutting it fine though,

A goot set of pics Liam -looks a little different to the standard Hospital / Asylum.

Got to say that I agree with Mal33b -real shame that there seems to be a trend towards closing the smaller Hospitals, and replacing them with one big "centralised" Hospital, meaning increased travelling etc. for Patients

Cheers! :)
