With Flubbera and Mookster going to Hellingly recently, I decided it was time for me to give it another try after my abortive first attempt in September.

This didn't start out well, with me dozing slightly on the bus and ending up a couple of stops down the line. No matter, a brisk trek brightened me up and I was really to take on the mud and brambles surrounding the Hospital.

It was a very windy and rainy day, lots of noises and random door opening/slamming ensued inside the building, which kept my heart rate up and my pants full.

All in all, it was a really nice explore. I'm glad I did it before demolition, even if it is completely trashed (I thought West Park was a bit of a state, but this was something else).

And Goodbye...

As ever, thanks very much for looking. Cheers to Flubbera87 for some entry advice, much appreciated.

Well done for braving Hellingly in the grotty weather, glad you got in and out OK. I would say your photographs could be improved, especially with the aid of a tripod.

good pics,
nice one for braving it
hellingly was on the local news yesterday, they were saying how it was being knocked down.shame
who the hell would want to live there??
:icon_evil

Have they actually begun, or was the news reporting it is planned to be demo'd?

Cheers :)

Last time I was there, new foundations had been put in between the isolation hospital and the main site. All the vegetation had been cleared around the isolation hospital and bulldozers were on site. It would be my guess that they have flattened at least some of it by now. As for the main site, same as ever!

as far as I'm aware, Park House has been demolished, and they will build the show homes on that site before the rest of the place is demolished

Thanks for the update Mookster and LB..guess the times up for Hellingly.I will miss her so much

Judging by the signs up around The Drive the show home will be completed January-ish, so it's got a month or so I guess until they really ramp up security to keep the all the machinery safe. Here's hoping that, like with West Park and Fairmile, the funding will disappear due to the depression.....

I really would like a final visit but don't know if I'll be able to organise one, it's such a bugger to get to:(

If they get them up that quick, they cleary won't last as long as Hellingly did, even with all the smashing!!

Cheers for the update, is a shame to hear it is going...
