Cottage Hospital, Thetford, Norfolk, U.K. - December 2009

For this very early morning explore, Team MO2W, comprising manof2worlds, The Explorer Kid and Black Shuck, journeyed to the town of Thetford to visit the small but perfectly formed Cottage Hospital, situated in the centre of the town. This little location was, by and large, unremarkable aside from one wonderful feature, an X-Ray room that was in pristine condition. Not a lot is known at the time of writing this about the hospital itself, other than it was closed in 2007. There has been a lot of damage done by chavs and it appears to be a bit of a junkie den. That aside, we continued forth and found a few small delights as well as indulging a bit of urbex fun as whilst we take the ethos of exploration seriously, we don't take ourselves too seriously (we leave that for others).

No externals as the weather was unbelievably shite and I don't like pics with white rain flashes all over them (it was still dark, ie 6.30am).

This next one was taken after The Explorer Kid was told that he couldn't take home the X-Ray Machine - not happy, the Kid plotted his revenge......



Whilst the Kid plotted, Black Shuck gave it his coolest pose......



And then the Kid struck - being an electronics genius he adapted the X-Ray machine to give manof2worlds an almighty zap - moral of the tale is NEVER tell a child "no" these days!!!













After the events of this morning, it was felt that the Kid needed therapy......!!!

They've brought back some memories for my wife - she worked there as a Radiographer and used that very tube!

The switch panel would get very hot by the end of the day and you could burn your fingers on it if you were not careful

Sad to see the state the place is in now....



Your "rays" are in the wrong place btw -- X rays are produced perpendicular to the tube and emerge from the window in the side.
