Cheshire county asylum was built in 1827 and is also referred to as 'Deva'. At the peak of its days, the hospital was able to house over 1500 patients and closed in 1991. Unfortunately most of Deva has been demolished, only the central buildings remain with demolition work moving rapidly.
This was a fleeting visit as we didn't think we were getting in until a friendly local pointed us in the right direction.
Despite being so little left, I really enjoyed the place. The corridors were pretty grand and the atmosphere reminded me of Hellingly (peaceful).
