Normans Riding part 2 Winlayton/Blaydon

Weather was bad, so I thought I'd take a second visit to this ex-hospital in Tyne & Wear.
I was here last year but since then its obvious that the situation has changed and they are leaving the place to rot. Kids and scrap scavengers have moved into the site and its being trashed in very short time. Someone even seems to be making a serios effort to strip the roof.
This was a surprise and after an hour of sneaking around, following last years visit, I found I was there by myself and free to roam at will. I did and not without a few surprises, which the photos will show.

But.....and here is the biggest surprise and main question

Why does a old age peoples home have a set of stocks?????

Might be worth a third return trip again at a future date but I dont think it could give a bigger surprise than the stocks. Is it a warning to urban explorerers???????

 Perhaps they had a fund-raising fete and people paid to throw wet sponges at some poor sod in the stocks.
Love seeing the grounds here...something secret gardenish about them. Nice to see you're still about, Taliesin. :)

Still about but in hibernation for winter! I think your probably right with the stocks but a trespassing deterant is a more fun idea

Been looking for a good first time place to take my bro as he's an urbex virgin, looks like this place might be a good start

Oh yws, its well and truelly trashed but a lot of it. I cant believe how much had been left there and while I didnt go through everything, #####i think there were a lot of confidential patients reports & data. Even company cheque books!!!!
The gardes really are rather nice and the least trashed of it all.
Probably is a good place to start but pity about condition
