Fed up with being disturbed by tourists and security whilst visiting WP?

Pay a visit to the maze of service tunnels.

Visited with high power lamp with filter (and the goon on the balcony). :p

N.B. A WORD TO THE WISE

Requisites; Sense of direction, sturdy boots, plenty of torch power, respirator (there IS still asbestos down there), and a bit of agility.

Interesting pics, like the stretcher!

Maps of these tunnels are availiable if you look hard enough online. However, I would advise EXTREME CAUTION. if you want to see what I mean, take a flash gun and fire it off. then, swiftly die of respiratory diseases when you see the amount of particulate in the air. There is loads of asbestos too.

Very nice. I didn't know they were quite so extensive, this was a really interesting report as I haven't seen a report dedicated to any asylum service tunnels before so thanks very much :)

Been down the Severall's tunnels very briefly, also I assume there's some at Hellingly given what look like air vents coming out of the floor in various places... cheers for an interesting report :)

your first shot and 2nd i got in there with out a Respirator so i'm bolloxed did you know from there you could get into the water tower

Short term you will probably get away with it, but I do strongly advise the wearing of a decent respirator down there.

Even with all the water and dampness down there it's still dusty as feck. Take heed of mc_nebula's warnings.

Yeah it's not good down there if you aren't prepared. Found it out to my cost.

What happened to you Mooks?

Another funny thing candles don't burn too well down there, looks like oxygen levels are a tad low also!

Short term? Because I only come into contact once for a short period i'm ok or when I'm older I'll have problems?.

I am no expert but short term exposure isn't good but will probably not shorten your life expectancy.
(Worrying about it too much will shorten your life expectancy)

weren't prepared in the slightest equipment-wise as it was a last-minute decision to do the tunnels, although we only spent a short time down there....so if I die in 30 years time I'll know what caused it:lol: the majority of the pipework is still fine down there but there are some seriously disturbed patches

I am sure you will be OK Mooks, people with short term exposure rarely experience problems.
I feel sorry for the poor bastards who worked down there back in the day!
The dampness down there helps, and most of the particles are probably just normal dust. (hopefully!)
You will live to a ripe old age don't worry. :)
