With a day off work today and inspired by recent reports I thought I would hit the road early and head on over to Talgarth.

I had no problems on site whatsoever, there were a couple of surveyors on site which I kept out the way of and there was a locksmith reparing the door to the Chapel, he was a decent bloke and talking to him he has no idea what is happening with the place.
He told me that the former caretaker of the site got the sack as he got caught stealing stuff and selling it on, apparently he sold a 10 foot solid oak table out of the Entrance block.

I had a good few hours in there and in no way got around it all, it's fairly stripped but still good for a look around. The condition of the place varies from totally trashed to almost mint.

On with the pictures

Great post - thanks for the update.

Was wondering what had happened to the table and other furniture from Admin, as seen in other posts. Seems as though they are securing admin too - is that right, notice the front doors open and some repairs seem to have taken place to those damaged doors in that coridoor?

I'm so glad that the slates havent been removed from admin and chapel, just wish they had left them on the main hall...

Ah Brill... im hoping to pay Talgarth another visit soon.. glad to see there has been no new demo to it :)

Great photos bud :)

oh wow! Great shots. This place looks fantastic! Its got a lot of atmosphere to it, some places are terribly static but this deffo has a lot of character.

A visit seems awesomely tempting..

Admin & Chapel have been secured and locks changed by the agent selling the building. This will keep Mr Wier from taking anything else out of the buildings.

Sadly the councillor who lives in what was in the old farm buildings could only get hold of building regs too late to stop them inching half of the hall roof. They sold the slate for about £30k which is a pittance of what it was really worth.

The whole sale of the place originally to the current state of the buildings is a total farce.

so only half of the hall roof has been stripped? that makes sense looking at the internal damage...
