about a year ago MD Goldie87 and myself popped here having seen a recent (at the time) report everyone had assumed it was fully converted, not a great deal to see really but it was another Asylum off the list and is WELL worth a visit for the water/clock tower alone as its a stunning structure and have longed to climb it since my first visit....
well since then ive been back many a time with various peoples but recently have FINALLY scaled the tower i was just going to add the tower pics to an old report but having searched back i havent actually posted anything from Crispins so heres a few taken over the past year
the most recent visit i have noticed they have started removing scafolding from the hall probably hoping it will just collapse so they can get rid of it, or maybe just to stop explorers and other non desirables climbing it
as i say its worth a visit just to marvel over the tower
although have some massive doors
the hall was being held up with scafolding, which they are now removing...
peering into the projector room
door to the super intendants house
how wierd!!! i was wearing that shirt on my first visit and my most recent visit!
the hall last october
~~~~and the tower climb~~~~
graffiti and clock servicing writing dating back to 1909............think about it for a moment, thats been there for 100 years
second view gives you a view of what you would assume to be the admin/reception but old plans show the admin to be a building connected to the tower itself.....the music video Bonnie Tyler - total eclipse of the heart was filmed on the staircase in admin block here
the sad state of the hall with the kitchen being the building closer to the tower
Loghborough Bell foundary is still operational to this day and is one of only 2 in the whole country!!
behind the clock faces, they are made of slate and the workings are long gone
projection end of the hall with the tower above
ive got pics of inside the super intendandts house and the newer admin somewhere
