Default My Week in Photography (Pic Heavy)

Well this is my first real post so I thought I would make it a good one!! (Hopefully)… I have only been on this site for a few weeks now and I am already hooked. It all started at work. I am a qualified graphic designer & photographer however I have an office job to pay the bills…. I work in Coventry on the old Marconi site where they are currently demolishing the whole place for houses etc. From my office window I can see what they are doing to the place and really wanted to get my camera in there before it was gone forever.

A few weeks ago I made the effort to try and get in however I was soon stopped by security and told to go away!! Really annoyed by this I went onto the internet to see what I could find on the history of the building and stumbled onto this website.

I could not have found the site at a better time as I was just about to start a two week holiday for Easter… Looking around I soon found out that there were far better and more accessible locations all around the UK and that was it….I literally packed my bag and went on a road trip for a few days… No planning, no nothing really. I just found the locations, got my bag and drove…

Here is what I came up with…..:)

    Blackburn Royal Infirmary 02-04-2010

Brecon and Radnor Joint Lunatic Asylum 05-04-2010

    North Wales Hospital, Denbigh 07-04-2010

You have all read the history for all these places so I don’t really need to go into detail about that… Just want to say its been a very interesting week and I have over 3000 stunning photos… I don’t know how i am going to get them into order but this is a start… These places really are a photographers playground!

    Hope you like them!

Nice pics mate, way to go for your holiday, seems like you had a good time with your new hobby. :)

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
