Mine and Landie Man's second location of the day was Chesham Cottage Hospital. Opened in October 1869, this small hospital originally had a mere seven beds. The land was donated by the Lord Chesham, who continued to donate £200 every year until his death. By 1924, the bed count reached 24, and the hospital had an extension built at an unknown year, possibly during the 1940's. Sadly, threats of closure arose in the early 2000's, and despite intense local opposition it closed in late 2004. The buildings today have suffered terribly at the hands of chavs and pikeys, graffiti is everywhere and there has been some fire damage, although the worst damage has come from water. Still, it was a nice enough place to wander.
