Although its been done to death, this was my first explore, also my first photographing, taken on my cheap compact digital camera, the pictures arent great but they also arent the cliche corridor shots that everyone else posted.

I had to route through around 1000 pictures that I had taken during the 5 trips I made here, each trip was made with different people however they were all also with a once good friend of mine, who sadly felt the need to spoil the next few explores that I went on, but thats history.

Im sure everyone knows about west park, so i'll show ten of the pictures that I took which I hope will show the place in a different way to the previous (hundreds of) reports that are out there, I would love to make a return visit before it ges knocked down.

A pair of suitcases left behind, there were a large amount of these...

Looking up at the tower, through one of the walkways.

And again...

A rattle? Left in the nursery, one of the saddest parts of the whole place.

Just some signs and a reflection, but I thought it made a nice picture.

The totally undamaged, and totally silent day room, the most quiet place i've ever been.

And now for some photos that I felt I had to include...

The infamous hoover room, not as good as the buffer room though!

The service tunnels, we explored every single part of the hospital, including underground.

Underground again, but this shows the condition of a lot of the floors.

As you may have guessed by now, this place had a real impact on me - it was my first explore (apart from messing about in the abandoned houses and a few small parts of Greenham Common years ago), I met several people through exploring this place, I encountered my first security guard, my first vandals and of course my first real place of dereliction - I didnt even know these asylums existed until I had experienced this one myself. I am truly saddened that this place is being redeveloped and I just hope the developers stick to what they should do and keep the admin building and tower, too many places like this get destroyed because of modern society dictating that anyone with money can do anything, but with St Ebbas admin block being preserved im sure parts of West Park will be here for years to come.

Thanks for reading :)

Does West Park have a room full of fire extinguishers? I remember seeing such a room in someone's postings here but can't find it on a search.

Thanks I've seen pictures of them arranged to the shape of a heart, & someone once mentioned that they've been left to form a swastika.

Thank you, I really appreciate all the (nice) comments, considering I took these on an ancient nikon coolpix camera I am rather flattered!
