Located set back from the main road this site is big and varied. Recently closed and boarded up in some areas at ground level. Big carpark at front and rear that houses a old chapel that is full up of stored old desks and chairs used by the council. There is a single 2 story building in operation at the back of site during office hours. Includes a courtyard, and various outbuildings.

Re: Rose House

I'm guessing that this is the former Lexden and Winstree Union Workhouse. apparently designed by Foden and Henman and built in 1836 with an unusual plan - the main building being a cross within an octagon and the chapel as a separate building at the back. There's more information on the Workhouses website at http://users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouse/Lexden/Lexden.shtml.
