I took a trip back over to Derby for another visit to Kingsway Hospital, the last time I was here was November last year. It has changed considerably since then, a lot of the outbuildings have been demolished and work is underway on the main building. I am led to believe that nothing is being kept..

I had a very leisurely few hours here and didn't see anyone else the whole time I was onsite which was a far cry from last time which was spent mostly on my knees hiding from security!

Not a lot to see now though I'm afraid although there are still a couple of decent bits.

Good report and great pics,We went last week too and had a very peaceful stroll around the place for nigh on 5 hours, dont know where the time went:lol:.
I think we may have seen you arriving as we left,if not it was definitely a couple of other explorers but we were halfway down the drive so too far away to say hi:).
Its a great shame they have had to trash this lovely old building as structurally it was sound and given its current tranquil setting it would have made great apartments or a retirement home.
We particularly liked the grand old hall (your last photo)and stopped for a sandwich in there,it was quite atmospheric,we later found out it was once the main hospital chapel. They certainly dont build things like that anymore:exclaim:

The destructive swines are making considerable progress,so suggest folks visit sooner rather than later.
Another piece of Derby`s fabric and history to be lost forever just to enable some out of town developer to build crappy matchbox sized overpriced houses.:mad:

I sincerely hope that the site is severely haunted:lol::mrgreen::)

Must be one of the shortest 'closure to demolition' timeframes of any asylum! Real shame:(
