OK ok ok so these are just close up externals .... but bravery met stupidity today ..and now the holy grail of my urbexing hobby will now forever be out of my reach, the guys in floresent clothing feel quite strongly about this place .... needless to say it is one of the best examples of decay and architecture that I have seen and I long to peek behind the faded moth eaten curtains, the building gives me the feel of what I imagine the overlook hotel from the shining to be like ....anyway hope you enjoy as much as I do ...I think she is a beauty ( there are none of the front but they can be seen in a previous post)

SK and I said nice stuff, but get ya finger out and get in there!!!!

Mind you, we are under the influence of beer !!!!

Sounds good, have to keep that on a low gas though!!! Got a baby due Wednesday (wish she'd hurry up!!) and I'm on local splores only at the mo especially after my arrest at Marconi's last weekend

Looking Good, I'll be down there on tuesday myself, you can see quite a lot of it just from the carparks, just watch out for the giant bee's nest in the garden pagoda thing. The only thing I havn't ever seen though is one of these security guards so they must be doing a good job, all there is round back is a rusty old portacabin trailer with "security" in peeling letters.

Shame its all being left to rot. They are in the middle of demolishing the stuff on the other side of Wilton Road now so it probably won't be long before there is a "mysterious fire" in the listed sections........

From the post title, I thought you were on about Odstock (commonly called Salisbury Hospital in these parts, this is known as the Old Manor locally) which despite being a busy working hospital has several sections just boarded up and rotting (next to orthotics and medical engineering is a whole part)

Good to see stuff from round my neck of the woods, means I should probably get off my (rather large) backside and do some

lol...cass security .....see my other report ...been in the other side .... but yeah seen a few mysterious fires at listed buildings:mrgreen:

The other side is shrinking faster. They did up the old nurses homes a good few years ago to flog as flats, only to have them all metal sheeted up because of a problem with the foundations (they are one the other side of the new courts of justice). That site does extend back a fair way too, probably be more flats.

Shame you won't be able to get into the chapel (which is a listed island surrounded by brand new hospital and a very tall fence) since it has a fab interior and gorgeous stained glass. I got to pop in during a visit to the Xray which used to be in the same building.

I would enjoy seeing how the listed fountain is supposed to catch fire though..... (as an ignorant in these matters I am assuming listed status gets lost when the building is totally destroyed and has to be flattened on H&S grounds?)

When did this close? I'm pretty sure I went there as a kid once, late 80s, early 90s...?

It was a few years ago. I went there in the late 90s as a teenager and it was getting tatty. It was originally going to be flattened for a "super surgery" healthcare center to replace all the GP practices in town but there was too much anger so they just built new blocks to replace the lost services and boarded the rest up.

Drove past on friday and saw Cass security and thier vans swarming everywhere..... hope you lot were behaving ;)

ha ha ..... na wasnt me, realised its to much of a hotbed to try again ....been decorating my house all weekend, in fact when all the wallpaper was stripped and the old decor revealed I was temped to take a photo and submit  a report, it could of pased as a location report easy lol

Stupid question but have you considered asking?

My friend works Salisbury Odean which is housed in a 12th century building and as well as the 5 screen cinema also has a 6th screen, restaurant, managers flat and a large number of unused or partially blocked off rooms including one set of windows that the staff cannot find the room belonging to them. They regularly have people asking to photograph the old building "behind the scenes" for photography projects.

I have no idea who owns the site, I had assumed it was all NHS but our social worker said she used to work in the main house when she worked in council housing a few years ago just before it closed so it might be council and a "conservation of local history" angle might work, especially regarding the listed buidlings and the chapel.

interesting looking place :), third pic down looks like some structural problems creeping in with the crack in the lintel up top of the window and a further crack on the base to I hope the re is a RSG behind the brick work for top lintel support:( good report bud :)
