Formerly a workhouse called the "Lexden and Winstree", built in 1836.

Some Historical information here

Its well boarded up (ground floor), no damage really other than the chapel having its door kicked in. The chapel is pretty bland inside, nothing much to see. The main building has a football pitch and some resitdential building around it then a main road out front and to the side. Access is probably not possible without some climbing and general tarzan work. I'm the anti christ of climbing, hence I'm not sure. Access to the site itself is very easy, I drove round it, parked in the back and wandered around unchallenged.

The chapel is in name only really. The inside consists of woodern floorboards that look as old as the hills. No alter or embelsiments anywhere, no stained glass windows. It was a poor house so I guess they had no money for the fancy stuff! I'll try and get some internal shots of it this week if the lights good. My camera phone wasn't upto it when i went there last.

Took a quick looksee around here on Saturday on the way back from Severalls. Seconding what's previously been said really - no onsite security; I'm guessing it's just a quick drive around every now and then. All the downstairs windows are boarded up, even the tiny little ones:

The chapel is dull and open both via the front door and a side window. Doesn't appear very damaged - yet. Few floorboards ripped up but that's about all. Oddly there is a brand new tumble drier in the corner still on a pallet and wrapped up, untouched. (Left hand corner in the pic.)

It's looking pretty difficult to get into, though annoyingly several doors are just locked with Yale locks from what I could see, but trespass isn't quite the same as breaking and entering! I looked though a few letter boxes, and the inside looks in good nick. Astonishingly there are still lights on outside the building - good old taxpayers getting billed for a waste of electricity again!

Hope that helps.

External heating by the looks of it, so no service tunnels, all over head.

Ooook then, took a little trip back there this afternoon to have yet another look, upon reaching it, alarm bells were going off, but not in my head! Over the last day or so some ones gone in via the center court yard and set off an alarm, its quite possibly the fire alarm, its those red metal bell type alarm, theres about 4 going off across the place

I walked in after parking the car down the road, locals use it to cut through while walking out to the main road, some could be heard saying "is that still going off?" so fark knows when it started.

I climbed (badly) a wall and had a look in the court yard, some ones put through 3 doors and 2 windows!

It was very very loud in there and I thought if anything its still attracting the wrong sort of attention so I decided to leave the way I came and wait till the power on the building was cut or the alarm reset, still, I managed to step inside making me the first :D

Its seems we can't keep away from this place, went back tonight with Ether and a mutual friend. To cut a long story short, access was easy, I cut my arm nicely, we bumped into three random young lads trying to get in the place, although I had ask them what they were doing  , three of us became six of us, maybe a bit to many!

All the power is on in the whole building and some of the lights are on at night, and are not secuirty, as we thought at first making us abort and come back lol.

Not a great deal of pics, few more to spare but I wont post them all, using flash indoors on a dark night is a great way to draw attention to yourself, so we left fairly quickly. Its suprisingly busy little place in side, small corridors, stairs, side rooms, cupboards and so on, various bits of tat and signs of copper robbing already. There is a small stair case that may well lead to the tower, its half boarded up for some reason, not quite enough room for my fat arse to get through and we were rushing a bit.

Any way, job done, now for a daylight raid!
