TB Hospital
January 2013

We have been meaning to visit this little hospital since late 2011 but for one reason and other, we just haven’t got around to it until now! We departed at around 3.30am for a 3 hour drive (about 170miles) and had arranged to meet up with our good friend, UE-OMJ, a fellow explorer.

After a brief catch up at our meeting point, we took a short walk to the security fences of the TB Hospital grounds and within moments we were on the other side and inside the building. We only had one problem, it was still dark outside, making it pitch black inside and we couldn’t use our torches because part of the area is still in use. So there was only one thing to do, wait it out!

We didn’t have to wait too long until the sun started to rise and we were able to start photographing this outstanding little hospital.

The TB Hospital was just a small section of a larger site which includes a Boys Home and a Nursing Home. There seems to be a limited amount information available (although we are still searching) on the actual TB Hospital but we believe that it was built during the 1900’s and was used for the treatment of Tuberculosis and more specifically the Doctors would practice in the field of Orthopaedics.

As you can see from the photograph above, the building still holds it’s original barn like doors that could be fully opened to allow air into the building or even wheel the hospital beds out into the open.

This TB Hospital closed it’s doors in 1988.

Thanks very much to UE-OMJ for joining me on this long overdue explore, as always it was great to explore with you!

Cheers for looking! :)

And a few from me from today. Was great to tick this one off the list, and as a bonus it was actually much better than I expected.

UrbexSW's photos put mine to shame as always, and I'll try not to duplicate...

Cheers everybody for the comments! This place really was like stepping back in time and hopefully it will stay there for some time yet!

Thanks again! :)

Great stuff, really do need to go back and pay this a visit. Hope you had a good shower after being in there lol. I'd not seen the photograph of the leg before. Did you do any other spores whilst in the area?

This was one of my usual explores before going to work, we were in here longer than expected and pretty much ran out of time and I needed to go. So we only did the one place this time.
