In 1886 John North gifted £6,000 to open a convalescent home in memory of his daughter Ida. Chorley and Connon were the Architects, and the hospital opened 10th May 1888.

Robert Arthington financed a second hospital on adjacent site which opened May 1905, and took his name but was mostly referred to as ‘Cookridge’. Ida hospital is the two crescent shaped buildings.

The hospital site closed in 2008.

Thanks for looking

Lovely high standard of pictures as usual with you :)

Good place this, I initially thought it would be too far gone but the peeling paint textures in here are exceptional.

I always wonder why no one goes in the buildings next to it , till the robot voice of "the police are on their way....etc." droned out the speakers , I bet that puts some people off ;)

That peely paint is excellent! Love the way the light falls in there too.
Cracking photographs, thanks for sharing! :)

I had a walk around the other building recently - Bizarrely they were not turned on :)

The building next to it is modernised and boring, it was converted into offices not long before the hospital closed. Don't think I took any pictures in there.
