Default St. Peter's Hospital Mortuary, Chertsey Jan 2016

Looking back now I really should have made more of an effort to see this place before it became the sodden ruin that it is today. I have gone past it so many times on route to other explores and never bothered to stop by always putting it off for another day. Well finally came the time that, after checking out a few interesting but dead-end leads in the general vicinity, I decided to say 'we should go to St. Peter's Mortuary'.

What a mess it has become, I can remember a time five or six years ago when it was undamaged and totally intact and now the fridges are pretty much dismantled, there is graffiti all over the place and some wiseguy has removed one of the slabs which has severed a water pipe in the process, which is now gushing water at quite a rate into the building and it won't be long until it's all flooded out now. There is a good couple of inches of water in there already.

History, what there is of it, has been done a few too many times so here is my take on the most sodden mortuary in the world.

It wasn't my kind of place to start with, even less so now.

Good photos of the place though.

Wow pretty trashed. Has only got slightly worse since I was there though, but at least the squatters have cleared off by the look of things.

Yeah power was on and buzzing away when we went. Had a bin bag with lots of fresh vegetable peelings in it and human excrement in the shower tray. Must have been sleeping in the chapel, it's the only bit that's dry.

Yeah whoever was calling it a home has buggered off now.

Real shame it's so ruined but I'm glad I finally made the effort to see it. I can add it to the list of mortuaries I have explored anyway.

Great pics mate! Took an adventure up here a few months ago (not that far from me and had the luxury of a hire car with a day spare) but it seemed newly sealed up tight. Either that or there is another place metalled up to the eye balls on the same grounds. Ah well, an excuse to go back! : )

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
