Default St Peters Mortuary January 2016

Not been posting reports for a while, so will have to catch up.

So here we have St Peters Mortuary, this was a very rushed visit as I was in the area one Sunday collecting furniture for family and as always i take the camera if out and about.

This was built for casualties in the second world war in 1940 but was decided that the mortuary was too small to cope with the amount of bodies and too far away from the main hospital.

After finding entry i discovered that my best trainers were not best suited as there was an inch or so of water covering the floor, lots of taps/pipes leaking water, i turned off what i could and carried on regardless.

This is very trashed and was clear that squatters had been occupying the Morgue and sleeping in the Chapel.

I enjoyed this but was rushed due to commitments.

Wow, this place is still standing?? I thought this would have been long gone by now! Great set of photos although it's a shame to see it so trashed.

    Thank you for sharing,

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
