Everyone has heard of the fire at little plumstead were the great hall was set on fire in the early hours of the morning, the fire devesatated the hall and subsequently the demolition teams were in knocking it down.the hospital is well known to locals.its were many explorers have started.and even went back just for an explore and take photos.it even attracted many explorers from out the area.i have been several times myself.including a group of us going on Halloween night.dressing up in masks and running arounf in the dark.the hospital was bought by Norfolk county council in 1929 and welcomed its first patient in 1930.the hospital was set in large grounds.it was self sufficient, growing its own foods.it had a walled garden.and large woods.a sports field.sadly I never say the gym or physotherapy pool as that had long been demolished.with care and community coming to the fore the hospital slowly closed in the 1990's..the chapel was converted and lots knocked down to build a housing estate.permission had just been granted to knock the rest down an build new houses and convert the hall into luxury apartments.the hospital was a good employer for local people and used lots of local supplies.when my father was alive he worked here for a while as a chef and then ended up helping with care work.these photos are from several visits here.and then one final visit to witness the destruction of the beautiful hall.

This is the main hall on two of my visits.i met dani1978 here as went nervously into the hall for the first time.i was totally unprepared to go in.i remember going down to the cellars with my phone as my light.the excitement of going in my first hospital.i had only just started taking photos as well on these explores.

As I pulled up to see the damage done there was people everywhere.families out looking at the damage.fire crews and a police car.as I walked on the main green I expected to see a tombola stall and a beer tent.i wandered around taking a few pics of the few remaining buildings standing.and I saw one that I have tried several times without much luck.i noticed the door was open.so a quick look around I sneaked in and explored it quickly.be rude not too really.it was dark and a bit of a mess.

This is the main hall how it looked when I turned up.virtually demolished now.the fireman still damping down.when news broke off this it was all over Facebook.local groups and friends sharing and talking about it.the speculation was it a deliberate act to set fire to it or if it was kids.the debate will rumble on for a long time.the place has been plagued with yobs and drug addicts with several small fires there.suspicions why a demo crew was on site within an hour.to be fair the machinery was already there for the other work.and it was a local firm so would not take long to get someone in on overtime.but whatever it was most explorers don't like seeing these old buildings go up in flames when so much can be done with them.

R.I.P little plumstead.you were a dump.but you were our dump.

Drove past myself today. Such a shame.

Nice cheeky little bumble while you were there

You've recorded it for historical purposes and you've done well. Let's see in, maybe a years time from now what else has happened to the building.
