Me and missy popped in this hospital on route to the hotel.i was not expecting great things but I loved it.the external of the building is worth seeing alone.built in continental style with wood cladding.its a marvel to look at.the inside is starting to get a bit trashed.but not heavily and many nice features remain.i certainly enjoyed it lots and wished I could have been here longer,I can imagine it was a beauty in its day.the hospital opened in 1900 as an infectious diseases sanatorium.called the nordach dee hospital.used for the treatment of tuberculosis.when anti biotics became more readily available the hospital shut and became a hotel.it was also used by troops during the Second World War.in the sixties an outbreak of typhoid broke out and it was used again as a diseases hospital before finall being used as an old peoples home.the building was falling into severe disrepair with th second floor unused completely and the balconies rotting.in 1998 they built a new building and the other one closed its doors.it has appeared on BBC1 restoration.but still lays there decaying away

so so many great shots there fella - i think you and jack(vampire) really do have something special that stands out from the crowd - although i do love seeing anything from anyone as everyone has a special take on things.
I once said i think you should do a tutourial on how you do your shots but i take it back.
There unique to you and i think thats why i like them so much.
Thanks for sharing.

Top stuff once again mate, really loved your take on this place. Had a mooch around here early last year, such a lovely building. I have a feeling your next lot of reports will leave me feeling home sick! : )

You're right there are some really nice features left undamaged, ahh, I thought you'd given up lugging that Belfast with you, Sound Job Mikey, Thanks

Sadly the hospital is no longer. It was burnt to the ground on the night of 13th/14th October, apparently some teenage boy was responsible.

Yeah we've discussed it on another thread, they've charged the kiddie now haven't they? Such a shame, and a real loss to the history of the area. My Nan was a nurse there back in the 60s.
