Default Red Cross Hospital, Italy - September 2016

    Morning all

Recently returned from a trip to Italy and my backlog has just grown massively (so apologised in advance) but expect another spam of reports from me!

We had such a good trip - the derps are good, the pizza's are massive and the views are stunning! I was like a mosquito target, and my legs now look like I've got some kind of disease going on. The biggest challenge now is deciding what to edit, and Red Cross sprang to mind for a couple of reasons. It's so photogenic - the rows of beds left behind, the chapel, and even the tree going in the top floor bathroom. The name come from the red cross painted on the ceiling in the chapel, but over time this has faded - to a point its barely visible anymore, which is a real shame. We bumped into a couple of Italian explorers on our way out, but as neither of us spoke a mutual language we awkwardly smiled and went our own way. :D

As always, thanks for looking! :D
I'm probably not in the UK right now..

Yeah I liked that, the ability of nature to flourish in inhospitable places never ceases to amaze me.
Sound Job Squid, lovely pics, look forward to the next instalment

Nicely done. I'm surprised that the beds are still there, I thought that someone would whisk them away. The chapel looks nice, could still be rescued. If you say that the derps were good and the pizzas were massive, what about the prosecco?

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
