Taken in May 08. We bumped into a fella who told us that this place is soon to be boarded up because of a housing development starting nearby, so im glad we caught it when we did as there were already metal sheets nailed over the windows.

*Updated*

Here's a link to the album on Photobucket as the Galleries no longer exist on this site

Pretty well captured, might be nice to see some more general views but you've caught the grafitti well. Glad you got in before access got too hard.

its taken years to get it properly boarded up, shame really, if they had done this 4yrs ago, whats left standing today would likely be in such a condition it could still be recycled and devolped, now 95% will be buldozed. its played out pretty well for the devolpers, they've held off since 2005 when outline planning permission for converison was granted

Yeah, the place was well and truly chavved! Empty cans of fosters around, smashed everything, burned out rooms and grafitti all over the place, bloomin burberry clad drugged up idiots! I did take some general shots around the place, they turned out well but I chose to put some of the stronger images on this sight.

is Cherry Knowle now like St georges in morpeth? where its like.. they have new buildings but the old ones are still there unused?....

To an extent yes. except the buildings still in use at cherry knowle are quite old anyway (1930's), jut not as old as the asylum block. St. George's, as you probaly noticed, has an entirely new block.

First time OSPA's pics have displayed for me, thought I'd better hang on until I could see them so as not to post any duplicates, so here's a few of mine from that trip.

Strange atmosphere in that place...as discussed on Nurse Paynes thread. Just glad we got to do it before it was too late....don't fancy doing it again...though I suppose my arm could be twisted!
