First of all, thanks to JonBoy for arranging it for me to go see this place before it was too late and for everyone else that made it fun. I visited Cane Hill with JamesBevis2, Tumbles Oxygen, JonBoy, Hairy and Winchester.
I was so excited before going there and spent the whole week with a nervous excitment and anticipation, just praying that I'd get in to see the famous Cane Hill asylum. I didn't even mention it to too many people in case I jinxed it. I'd heard so much about it and I just had to see it if I could. I feel really sad that I'll probably only see this magnificent place once but it's better than never having seen it and it had been on my to-do list for a good few months. It's a very atmospheric place and if you haven't been yet then do your best to see it.
I was totally amazed at the size of this place-as far as size goes, it was like something from one of my wildest asylum dreams! I was also delighted at some of the stuff left behind like the hospital beds and literature. There was some old medical equipment too and most people know of my fascination with such things. Oh and it's nice to know that there is a lovely little place with grey chairs that is perfect for chilling out and sampling the tasty snack that is cold baked beans straight from the tin.
Cane Hill truly lived up to the hype and I'm really happy that I dragged my arse all the way to Croydon for the weekend. Could hardly walk for two days after but that just shows that I did lots of things and saw loads of stuff! :thumb
Construction time again...the light at the end of this tunnel wasn't a positive sign.
Even the outside of this building had a presence and aura to it.
The famous admin block.
You don't know how happy I was to see this here...an actual intact hospital bed in a cell!
Beds and curtains were eerily intact and ace.
I loved how it referred to "the normals."
Puss In Boots-I just thought that he was sweet.
The wheelchair put a nice, creepy slant on the whole church altar thing.
I always wanted to have a go at a black and white photo...I only recently realised that my camera had the option.
This is my church...this was the most amazing chapel I've ever seen!
