Howdy!

Severalls Hospital. For those who are interested in some history..................

http://notquitegone.moonfruit.com/#/severallshospital/4518035051

Got a call from Immortal Owl, and the short story was that he "twisted me arm" into another "final" visit
Arrived nice and early, and met up with Kirkbride a couple of hours later (good to meet ya KB) :)
For me, this was a very enjoyable explore. Got to see some new bits, re-visted old ground (but with better weather)
Got to practice me "challenge Annika" running technique.....
For a change, going to start with a pick of people pics (to follow soon).

Severalls Hospital -July, 2008

Okay, so here is a selection of about 1,100 pics taken on the day (thank goodness for digital)!
A personal message to Reaperman -do not fret, tried to take your comments on board ;)

Wanted to see the parts of the Hospital which were in the most original condition (hadn't been altered or modernised much or at all) -wasn't disappointed -especially when I found a toilet block with glazed brickwork -unpainted!!! :twitcy: The icing on the cake for me though, had to be when I walked into a toilet in one of the Dormitories, saw an old door, and thought to myself "this looks like it used to be an old Seclusion Cell". Then looked up, and saw one of the original shutters above the door :jiggy::jiggy::jiggy:
Above many of the Cell doors are boarded up square panels, and I had guessed that these were originally open, but never knew what they looked like before being boarded up when Sevs first opened back in 1913 -until now! :)
A BIG thanks goes out to Kirkbride and Immortal Owl for putting up with me architectural waffling :chatterbox::embarrassed:

Hope that you enjoy these everyone :)

thanks for showing us around the hospital - you certainly know you way around it!

liked the mad dash across the cricket pitch, just like that scene out of this is england when they are all running through the grass.

I'll post my pics shortly:)

You're most welcome buddy -good to meet you and put a face to the name :)
Well done for making it in. Rather interesting eh? ;)

I hope that you weren't too disappointed that no headsets were provided for the tour
Reckon we timed our run well -another hour later...............;)

Look forwards to seeing ya pics Kirkbride.

Thanks for the (second) tour, mate. Never would have guessed the cricket pavilion was there... Architectural waffle included it was a good explore!

Nice captures you got too, especially the NHS plates. I'm still getting you tripod for Christmas though :p

Not a problem (me arm is still aching though from when you twisted it to get me back into Sevs!)
Passed the Pavillion lots of times, but never went in, as it didn't look like much. Glad we decided to now :)
Thanks for the comments and for playing a big part in making it a thoroughly good explore.
A tripod would be good (and might act as a restrictor in terms of the number of photos I take)

Lb:jimlad:

P.s. -whoever it was that coughed / sneezed near to us, might I suggest you try Benedryl or Strepsils :p

PM me when you've next got some free time (of course, I will have to decline, as this was definitely my last visit to Sevs) ;)

I was fortunate to get that many (as before you arrived, I dropped me camera, and it died -that'll tech me to use a kenco coffee paper cup as a tripod, and then try to balance it ontop of a radiator!). Managed to fix it though -amazing what'll happen if you start hitting it against ya knee a few times!
