Well this was my first time exploring this particular asylum, from the outside it looks sort of... Standardised and not very complicated.

The inside is a different matter, me and my friend ended up walking in circles because the place was like a labyrinth!! although it was a very cool explore.

Currently the disused asylum is supposedly slated to be converted into apartments, it can't actually be demolished because it is a listed building! That said after being in there and having a good mooch about, looking at the damage the place has suffered - I really doubt it could ever be converted into apartments.

It really looks like it was hit by a mortar to me, but oh well!

I love exploring old asylums, so far though this is the most damaged asylum i've visited.
All in all a good day out!

It's such a shame listing means nothing these days. My old local TB sanatorium that I explored was listed, but was knocked down in 3 weeks of it closing!!!!!!

Great shots mate, an explore I want to do myself soon!!

It's a great place isn't it?

That guestbook in pic 5 must be pretty full by now.

@ Goldie, by chapel do you mean the room with all the scaffolding? because that isn't a chapel... It was the staff restaurant according to the sign there. I thought it was a chapel at first though

!

Even a year ago I doubt it could've been converted as the damage was quite extensive even then, which is a shame. :( Nice photos, termin8tor. :)

Nope, the room with the scaffolding is the main hall, later used as a staff restaurant. The chapel is rather oddly upstairs above some toilets:

Its a great old place and a shame that its so badly damaged,we spent most of one day in there recently as we kept finding bits that we had missed,it is a complete maze and made a little more challenging by the state of the floors(as I found out:lol:).

Did you find the cellars near the water tower with the mutant fungus, its well worth a visit:question:

Great pics of the place!
