Driven by news reports that parts of the site are to be demolished and others burnt to the ground in the course of a television exorcism, Kirkbride and I set off on a suicide mission to photograph the place while it's still standing.

We had expected to be stopped at the gate and turned away. In fact, despite Most Haunted bods being all over the place, we were there for five hours before being ghostbusted. We would have been there longer, but we were being rather bold and walked straight into the main hall where the audience seating was being erected. A very nice man then escorted us to the gate.

The main hall will be the main broadcast location. Gaffer tape crosses with marker pen instructions show that the morgue will be used on nights four and seven, and the chapel on the night seven finale. We overheard the production crew discussing the conditions of being allowed to use the site and how this limited what they would be able to do. The chapel and hall must not be damaged, but will be secured on leaving the site. They also discussed the use of straightjackets and other treatments and their years of use, to make sure their mediums don't channel some spirit recollections that couldn't possibly have happened.

Unrelated to the filming, the demolition of the newer blocks has already begun. The kitchen/canteen has DEMO sprayed on the side, and the nurses' residence was being torn down today while we were on site.

Disappointingly, there were no orbs on any of my photos:

Haaaa! you've been slimed!

'Village of the Damned' bloody hell they don't half ham it up! Its a shame in its final days NWH is going to be shown in such a ridiculous light...straight jackets, and witches!!! I was going to suggest a 'Most Unhaunted Live II' but they make big enough idiots of themselves without us sending them up!

Still disgusted they never let me buy that slab back in the day...my favourite of the tables I've seen, and Royal Doulton made (which is currently in the middle of demolition near me).

Great pics :)

be a giggle if some of us hid in various parts, then really give them a fright with the aid of a few props and stuff

nice one for getting in and getting some good shots
did you add that in the boiler house? or has it always been in there?
do you know when they start filming.

It wasn't there when I went a couple of weeks back. They started last night I think, and it goes on til next Friday.

Strange seeing a floor in the chapel, the only ghosts they're likely to come across in there are Rats from beyond the grave! there were a couple of poisoned rats in there on our last visit, like this poor chap.....

Can't say there were any weird or spooky occurences at the place when i was there.

great set of pics especially like the one with Yvette Fielding in the boiler house

couldn't believe we were able to push our luck as far as we did

That's right. The broadcast is from today (Saturday) until Friday.

Kirkbride's got some good photos too, and some hillarious insights into the location and dilemmas of any ghosts there! I'll leave it to him to post his take on things.

Haha! No, I think the only way we could have done further would have been to have eaten some sandwiches from the carpark refreshments van - that's one for next time!

Don't worry, you haven't missed anything yet. We've had an hour of absolutely nothing except filler. The audience is in the ballroom area, which has been really done up and made safe for them. So.. lots of talk, no action yet.

What a bunch of tossers. such an amazing building, and no respect for it at all. Of course there were stories of witches and demons, it was a fucking lunatic asylum!!!!!

Will this be on DVD do you think?

i can only get the 4 channels here :D
and using mobile phone as a modem stops me downloading large stuff (1gb fair usage shit)

Well thats put a stop on things for us for the next couple of weeks. We was going up there this coming week.

Well done with the pictures.

Love slimer in the boiler house!!! ... hope Most Haunted runs into him!!

Been watching a bit (well small doses until I feel quesey!) and I have to say most of it is a just plain shite .... but the padded cells  Just really defy belief!

Just goes to show... act like you belong, and you can blag your way through most situations.

It's worked for me on a few occasions. A clipboard and pen can be amazingly useful, as can a fluorescent vest and hard hat.

How do you fancy the job of guarding the equipment

Nice photos love the one without the floors
