Denbigh Asylum is Grade II listed, and began being built back in 1844, and was ready for 200 patients on the 14th November 1848.
Overcrowding meant a few extensions were built in 1899.
The hospital now had facilities for around 1500 patients.
Denbigh closed its doors in 1995.
Prince Charles put the buildings under the protection of the Phoenix Trust.

Wow...stunning images, chewy..that's some place. Excellent photography too. What camera do you use?

Nice open Chewy, I've been meaning to go back there and see the damage for myself.

Taa both :)

really wanted to get here before the fire to the hall :(

i use a Canon 400D Gaara, with a Tamron 28-200.
first time out with the new lens :)

Thanks Dude

glad i finally got to see it.
would've been better if the hall hadn't been torched

Yeah, I was gutted when I heard about that, especially when I had hopes of seeing the ceiling without the suspended '70s jobby before it went.

i always said i would go on a sunny day, and take a few pocket sized mirrors.
i would strategically place them around the hall, and reflect the sun up to the mirror ball.

the pic idea wouldn't quite work now

A tip-top Report Chews.

It's not often that you see Denbigh in the sun
Nice sunlight captures too. Thanks for sharing buddy.

Taa LB

was a great day, and the weather made it all the better.
the chapel pics wouldn't have worked as good on a crap day.
well worth a trip :)

Are those large cylindrical tanks for an oil fired boiler?

That's some kitsch wall paper!

No worries matey :)

Those window boards in the Chapel look new -don't think they've been there too long?
:jimlad:

Excellent pics mate, really do like the angles you've taken them from. Excellent. And area's I haven't seen pictures of before.

Love the light shining into the chapel and the roof beams. Excellent work mate.

Cheers,

:) Sal

how sad

It was sad to discover the main hall is burned down. I have pictures of the space between the false ceiling and the orginal roof, photos of projectors and photos off top of projector room
