I first went to this place on a sunny sunday in September 2005, I had heard stories about it containing morgue slabs and chairs that lunatics were strapped in for brain electrocution!

Well I just had to see this for myself and without knowing it at the time - I was on my first ever Urbex trip!
I parked up by the gates, strolled right past the security cabin and spent an hour or so nosing around.
This was the result of that afternoon, the final 4 were taken last year during a quick detour while heading for the Cheadle bleach works explore.
All of the additional buildings are now gone, it's wierd to think I was in them taking these.
A freind of mine went to one of the last Raves there, the rumour was that the police had told loads of chavs to turn up and cause trouble so no one would return. It worked on both fronts.

I never got into the main building sadly - but the development isn't finished yet...

I miss the Barnes as it was, it's just a shell now. It was one of my first explores on a freezing cold night back in 2005 and I loved it. Great shots too, mine from back then were terrible!

Why would they have lunatics or administer ECT in a convalescent home? The only people to ever claim it was an asylum was Most Haunted! :p Most Haunted Lies (again)

Morgue slabs and brain electrocution.........good name for a band my freind :)
Im just going to add,for one last time that this place was used as a location for my favourite horror film THE LIVING DEAD AT THE MANCHESTER MORGUE.
